Thirsty Thursday: Apple Cider Martini

Summer unofficially ended this week. *sniff sniff* Let's drown our tears over a few cocktails, shall we? You've heard of appletinis, haven't you? Those green apple drinks served at bars across the nation? Well, now that Fall is unofficially here, why not put a warm, snuggly twist on that classic and serve apple cider martinis! They couldn't be simpler, check it out:

  • 2 ounce of vodka (skip the Grey Goose, it's ok to buy the basic stuff)
  • 4 ounces of apple cider
  • Ice
  • Cinnamon and sugar OR caramel sauce (to rim the glasses)
  • 1 stick of cinnamon (optional, but makes a great garnish!)

Option 1: Cinnamon and Sugar
Rim the glasses by spreading the cinnamon and sugar mixture into a bowl. Dip the rim of the glass into the cider and carefully roll the rim of the the glass in the cinnamon sugar. Lightly shake off any excess and set glasses aside. Here's a tutorial for more tips.

Option 2: Caramel Sauce
Rim the glasses by pouring the caramel sauce into a bowl. Dip the rim of the glass into the caramel sauce and place them in your refrigerator to chill.

Add the ice, cider and vodka to your martini shaker, and shake until everything is well combined. Pour into  martini glasses and garnish with the cinnamon stick! You can also garnish this drink with a slice of red apple, some nutmeg or even a vanilla bean. Play around with it until you find a combo you like!

Be sure to have some plain apple cider on hand for your fabulous designated drivers too! Warm it up and add some caramel or cinnamon for an added touch!

Cheers!
